Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (aka Higurashi When They Cry) is a murder mystery visual novel developed by 07th Expansion. Set in the quiet rural village of Hinamizawa, the plot revolves around a series of murders occurring on the same day for four consecutive years. In the summer of 1983, Keiichi Maebara, a high school student, has just moved to Hinamizawa from the city. Having made some good friends at school, he has started to enjoy his new life. However, he soon finds out that four years ago, on the day of the cotton-drifting festival, someone was killed and another person went missing. Then the same thing happened on the same day for the next three years. Could it simply be a coincidence, or is there a sinister reason behind these incidents? The story features lots of twists and turns as Keiichi tries to expose the truth behind the strange events.
